New interactive game gives Ontario students skills for responsible online citizenship
The Media Awareness Network's interactive tutorial Passport to the Internet is now available to all teachers in Ontario's publicly funded elementary schools and school boards, elementary First Nations schools, and faculties of education. Ontario's Ministry of Education has signed a province-wide licence agreement for this innovative digital literacy resource on behalf of the Ontario Software Acquisition Program Advisory Committee (OSAPAC).

Kids for Sale: New education resource raises awareness of marketing and privacy issues on the Web
To reflect new challenges faced by children and teens in virtual online worlds and social networking sites, Media Awareness Network (MNet) today launched a new version of its Kids for Sale: Online privacy and marketing professional development workshop. The extensive updating of the popular resource was made possible through funding from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Media Awareness Network and Canadian Teachers' Federation Partner to Promote Media Literacy in the Digital Age
Media Awareness Network (MNet) and the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) are joining together to host Canada's fourth annual Media Literacy Week, November 2-6, 2009. This year's theme – Media Literacy in the Digital Age – will emphasize the multiple literacy skills needed by today's youth for accessing, evaluating, repurposing, creating and distributing media content.

Equal Voice and Media Awareness Network launch lessons to combat gender inequality in politics
Equal Voice in partnership with Media Awareness Network (MNet) today launched bilingual lessons for students in Grades 7-12 that explore media representation of gender in politics. Students from Glashan Intermediate School, in Ottawa, had the opportunity to try out the lessons.

Media Awareness Network Marks Safer Internet Day with New Tools to Address Cyber Bullying in Canadian Classrooms
Media Awareness Network (MNet) today launched the classroom resource Cyber Bullying: Encouraging Ethical Online Behaviour to meet the growing need for educational materials that address the issue of cyber bullying in Canadian schools. The launch coincides with Safer Internet Day—an international event to promote safe and responsible use of online technology and mobile phones among children and young people.
