OUTCOME CHART 



British Columbia Outcome Chart: Information Technology Grade 10

This outcome chart contains media-related learning outcomes from the BC Information Technology curriculum, for Grade 10, with links to supporting resources on the Media Awareness Network site.

The Information Technology curriculum for Grades 8-10 is divided into the following sections: Foundations, Process and Presentation.

  • Foundations provides students with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes to use information technology tools in all areas of learning.

  • Process allows students to select, organize, and modify information to solve problems.

  • Presentation provides students with an understanding of how to effectively use information technology tools to communicate ideas and information using a variety of media.   

Foundations

It is expected that students will:

  • practice handling Internet information in an ethical way
                               
  • demonstrate an awareness of the impact of electronic resources on education, careers, and recreation

  • evaluate the impact of information technology tools on the workplace, on individuals, and on society

  • demonstrate competence in using basic information technology tools

MNet Special Initiatives

To help students evaluate and better understand the impact of information technology tools on society, have them review and discuss the findings of MNet's Young Canadians in a Wired World parent and student surveys.

 

Process

It is expected that students will:

  • develop guidelines for evaluating and using information in an ethical way

  • develop criteria to evaluate information for bias
