In Quebec, media literacy courses are available to pre-service and in-service teachers through faculties of education at McGill University and Bishop's University.
Recent curricular reforms have also provided opportunities for professional development in this area. Members of the Association for Media Education in Quebec (AMEQ) - who were instrumental in developing the media literacy component of the new curriculum - have been actively providing training to teachers through workshops and presentations at individual schools, board-wide pedagogical days, and provincial and national conferences.
Le Centre de ressources en éducation aux medias (an umbrella organization for groups with media education interests), has sponsored, facilitated and provided teachers with French training sessions on media literacy and its incorporation into the new curriculum.
Réseau Éducation-Médias, Media Awareness Network's French counterpart, has also been active in providing Quebec educators with professional development workshops on media and Web literacy.
