PROFILE

MediaWatch

MediaWatch is a Canadian not-for-profit feminist organization that works to eliminate sexism in the media. It seeks to transform the media environment from one in which women are either invisible or stereotyped, to one in which women are realistically portrayed and equitably represented in all their physical, economic, racial and cultural diversity.

The organization promotes change by conducting research, encouraging consumer advocacy, and educating media industries, government and the public.

Over the years, MediaWatch has produced many educational print and video resources related to the media's portrayal of women and girls. It also offers a range of interactive media-literacy workshops for schools and community groups.
