RATINGS AND CLASSIFICATION SYSTEMS

British Columbia Film Classification

bcAll theatrical films shown publicly and all adult sex videos sold or rented through video retail outlets must be viewed and classified by the BPCPA Film Classification. The BPCPA Film Classification also classifies films and adult videos for the province of Saskatchewan.

Films are classified using the same ratings as the Canadian Rating System for Home Videos. The Classification Office also issues warning labels, such as "Frightening Scenes," "Sexual Violence," "nudity" in order to bring to the public's attention any potentially offensive material in the content of films. These warning labels must appear in the film's advertisements.

Here are the ratings and what they mean.
