Other Languages Growing on the Net (International)
  • Non-U.S. Internet users will outnumber U.S. users by the end of 1998, according to E-marketer, an Irish Internet research group.

  • The two fastest growing Internet markets are China and India.

  • According to the World Watch Institute, the number of users in China and India will multiply 15 times over to reach 5.5 million by 2000.

  • The Internet Society reports that more than half of the world's Internet users are currently Americans.

  • About 82 per cent of all websites are in English and 90 per cent of all e-mail is typed in English.

  • In 1997, France had fewer than four Internet-connected computers per 1000 residents. This is half the rate of Germany, one-third the rate of Great Britain and one-tenth the rate of the U.S.
