Who's Surfing The Web? (U.S.)

Relevant Knowledge, an online marketing firm, conducted a survey of 10 000 users and non-users of technology to better understand who has access to rapidly growing technology.

According to the study:

  • There are at least 57 million surfing Americans.

  • The Net has grown by 1.6 million users since January 1998.

  • There are 56 per cent more men surfing the Web than women.

  • More than 75 per cent of Internet users are between the ages of 18 and 49.

  • About half of all Web users have college degrees.

  • Another survey by Web Business Solutions looked at projections for web use in the future.

  • The projected growth of the number of Web users worldwide in the next 12 months will be more than 200 per cent.

  • Web Business Solutions estimates that there will be more than 160 million people online by the end of 1999.
