If any media content strikes you as inappropriate or offensive, it’s important that you speak out to complain about such content. It’s equally important to speak out in support of good-quality entertainment and positive advertising. Producers, broadcasters and advertisers do listen to consumer feedback, and a letter, fax or e-mail from one individual can carry a lot of weight.
When you voice your opinion, it’s important to contact:
- the media company responsible for broadcasting or publishing the content that concerns you
- the advertisers that run ads in the publication, or commercials during the TV or radio show
- in some cases, the appropriate government department
