Web Awareness Canada is a program developed by the Media Awareness Network to highlight the many challenges and questions that arise as children and young people go on the Internet.
- Can kids distinguish fact from opinion?
- Do they recognize online marketing techniques?
- Do they understand why they must protect their personal privacy?
- Can they handle inappropriate or illegal content?
This section provides parents, teachers and librarians with practical information and hands-on activities to help give kids the "cyber smarts" they need to make wise, safe and responsible online decisions.
The Web Awareness program has been developed with input from public libraries, educators, community organizations and parents. The program has been chosen as the public education cornerstone for the Government of Canada’s Cyberwise Strategy on illegal and offensive Internet content.
